2022 Canadian Graduate Workforce Survey

After 3 years, we are looking to conduct a larger scale study to analyze how new grads are doing across the country.

Please note all data compiled will remain anonymous. The information collected are aggregated to help us identify trends in remuneration, work habits and financial debt.

The final report will be released at the Optometry Leader’s Forum 2023 in Ottawa and subsequently shared on this site.

Ever wonder how much a recent grad makes in Canada? What are some financial burdens on newly minted ODs? Here are some highlights:

  • 66% of new grads work in 2 or more practices
  • The average Waterloo graduate debt was $84 580 CAD, but $182 730 CAD for US-trained graduates
  • The average monthly gross income per month varied by region, from $7000 a month to $20,000 a month!
